At Colden Dental Care, we partner with dental laboratories that share our commitment to excellence. This ensures a crown that is both functional and highly aesthetic.
A dental crown is also known as a “cap”. It is a shell that is placed over and around the entire tooth. Crowns prevent tooth fracture because they act as a ring around the tooth that binds the tooth together.
A crown will help strengthen a tooth that has previously been restored with a large filling. It may also be recommended to cover a tooth that is badly broken down or unaesthetic. A crown can be fabricated from different materials including porcelain, metal or a combination of both. The tooth is prepared to accommodate a crown. An impression is then taken and sent to the dental laboratory for fabrication of a customized crown. The crown is then cemented over the tooth and fits flush with the edge of the tooth. Crowns are not removable. Crowns are often recommended after root canal therapy. They are also placed over dental implants and can be used to retain a dental bridge.
